Through workshops, forums, and community events, participants can learn from each other and develop strategies to minimise waste, improve food distribution, and enhance food security.

Raising Awareness

The Zero Waste Challenge educates the community about the importance of reducing food waste and its impact on food security. By highlighting that nearly 40% of food produced globally is wasted and emphasizing the environmental costs, such as the emission of methane gas from landfills and the waste of resources used in food production, the initiative fosters a greater understanding of the critical need to prevent food.

Community Development

The Pilot Programme encourages partnerships between local businesses, charities, and community organisations to develop and implement food waste reduction strategies. By working together, these entities can create a more efficient food system that benefits the entire community. For example, businesses can donate surplus food to charities, which in turn distribute it to those in need, thus reducing waste and supporting vulnerable populations.
